Survival (Circus aeruginosus)

Sad to see but it's reality. This is a male marsh harrier dropping lunch (looks like a moorhen chick) to the wife. I saw them do this twice during the day. He catches something calls her then drops it to her. I would estimate that this was 300mtrs away so it's a huge crop - hence the quality
Habitat
Mainly found in eastern and south-east England, with some in the north-west, south-west and Scotland. Seen over reedbeds and marshes, as well as farmland near wetlands. Marsh harriers can be seen at: Elmley, Kent; Leighton Moss, Lancashire; Minsmere, Suff

A fantastic capture. No reason to be sad. The Blackbirds close to my place loose almost 100% of the chicks (three broods) to crows every year.
I found a pair of coots with five chicks two days ago. Today without.
No discounters for animals. Lucky we. Always a bit sad but true wildlife.
