The last bird I photographed before we got back to the car was an Australasian Swamphen on the lake shore.

A great closeup of this Swamphen caught in mid-stride D! Nice to see them out of the water and it stands out beautifully!

So like our Moorhen but so different! One thing they have in common is their habit of wandering about on land as well as water (though never too far from the latter). Another fine shot, Delia.
