Breaking cover from the reeds altogether, this water rail quickly swam across to the safety of the next reedbed, but not before I'd snapped a picture. Strange looking birds really, but entertaining too.

Another stunning shot of this uncharacteristically confiding Water Rail. A lovely serene image with a perfect reflection. Excellent Pete.
 
Quite unusual indeed, but the best way to capture this fine bird: slow-moving and well-lit ... a cracking picture!
 
Never even seen a pic of one swimming before. Very, very nice shot wih a perfect reflection. Fantastic!
