Target spotted! (Falco tinnunculus)

I was in amongst the sand dunes this morning watching a flock of around 40 Snow Bunting when I looked around to see this Kestrel speeding along the beach right by me and heading towards them. It was flying about a metre above the sand. Mostly on instinct I took a few photos panning as it went past. Needless to say the Snow Buntings scattered and that was the last I saw of them.
Location
North Gare Pier, Seaton Carew, Cleveland. UK
Date taken
14th November 2008
Scientific name
Falco tinnunculus
Equipment used
Canon 40D+Canon 400mm f5,6
Wow, Ian. Way to shoot from the hip. Think about all the time you've spent shooting images. If you did not have certain skill down to a reflex you'd never have gotten this shot;) Well done. :t::t::t: :t: cheers B :)

A brilliant flight shot Ian. The blurred background from panning gives a great impression of speed. Great work.

Oooooooooooooooh!!! Amazing!!! :eek!: Super-duper job, Ian, a medal to you for your skills at panning!!! ;) :t:
