Texas Tortoise [Xerobates (Gopherus) berlandieri: Testudinidae] Adult tortoises will have a shell about 21.6 cm (8.5 in) long. Sexual maturity is estimated at about 15 years and longevity may be as much as 60 years. Photographed in the tip of the South Texas Plains, Cameron County, Texas, U.S.A. at ca. 12.2 m (40 ft) elevation.

Great detail in every line, Stanley. When I was a kid I remember loads of my mates had pet tortoises. Shudder.
