Texas Tortoise
Texas Tortoise (Gopherus berlandieri: Testudinidae) They can reach 23 cm (9.0 in) in length and this one is at its max. The largest one I have seen.
Habitat
South Texas Plains vegetation area, floodplain of the Rio Grande, dry Tamaulipan thornscrub at 28 m (92 ft) elevation.
Location
Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, south of Alamo, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA.
