Thanks, Stanley
for identifying the bush for me! Stanley just posted another Swallowtail nectaring on Buttonbush. That solved one mystery for me. I still have several other butterflies to identify from that day, and a shrub with eye-poppingly purple berries, and one warbler. On that last one, the good folks on ID Forum are leaning towards Yellow Warbler, but that yellow under its tail may be just an illusion from all that canopy-filtered bright sunshine. Northern Parula was also suggested, but I don't see the sharp divide between yellow breast and paler lower ab. Nobody agrees with me that it might have been a Prothonotary, but when I listen to call recordings that's the only bright yellow warbler that fits what I was hearing, so I may stick to my first guess on that one, in spite of the expertise on ID Forum. Too bad I didn't get a recording.

A great closeup of this Swallowtail and I agree, I love that he names the vegetation that his capture is captured upon.
