Thanks to Jamie (Ninox boobook)

Southern Boobook

This is my first ever Owl photo - I went for a walk last night at Nangawooka, listening to the sounds of the night creatures, when I heard this bird muttering, and went in search of it. Unfortunately, it was high in a tree, and all I had was the little flash on my camera. It was extremely dark, but by messing with the brightness and contrast for a while, I got it recognisable - just. If anybody knows a way of saving a photo like this, I'd love to hear about it. I have a stronger flash, but I can't get it to work with my camera.

Later Edit: Thanks to Jamie for the trouble he took to lighten this photo for me - here is his photoshopped version, looking much better than the photo I originally posted.
