The bird and the bee 3
Then (3) he had it by its head. Of course, all that gave me plenty of details to id the insect by. But I don't have an insect field guide at home. It wasn't until I was at the library on Tuesday that I found out what this "bee" was. Not a bee at all. It's a White-banded Hoverfly, aka Pelucid Hoverfly. I think we all know how the story will end. In fact, I suspect that the hoverfly was already dead in shot 1 (more on that later), but the storyboard will nevertheless continue tomorrow.

LOL I was beginning to think hoverfly... but really no expert on them at all. They all look like big wasps to me!!!

Another cracker of a picture this Ann, with some great detail too.

Well I guessed wasp or hornet so I was wrong. Judging by the bird's caution it might have guessed wrongly too. Another great picture
