which is unusual for California's central valley at the end of summer. That makes Putah Creek a refreshing, relatively cool, shady spot, which lots of people enjoy visiting. And for those who actually do like the valley heat, some of the picnic areas are in more open, grassy areas up on the bank tops. I'm not a heat person, but luckily for me this was a relatively cool day. Nevertheless, I mostly followed the lower paths down by the creek. Here, a glimpse through dense understory of a GBH and some American Black Ducks (probably feral domestics - as the biggest of the Anas ducks, they are much raised for their meat). The ducks were a trip tick.
Now a bit of news: The bad news is, the problem I had with my camera on the last day of the Lisbon trip is a shutter curtain that's fallen out of position. A repair would cost about as much as I originally paid for the camera. So the bad news is: I need a new camera. And the good news is: I need a new camera. I suppose it should be a current model Nikon DSLR, so I can keep using the same lens. Maybe the 7200? Certainly can't afford anything further up their line. We'll see what I get once I've got it.
