The Great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo)

A member of thecormorant family ofseabirds, the Great cormorant are an excellent divers and fishers with some found diving as deep as 45m(150ft). They were once hunted nearly to extinction in the past due to the fact that fisherman considered them a great competitor for their business.
I spend some days with them by the Mediterranean shore near the Santa Pola harbour. Everytime I went there, I found them in the same place, same position sunbathing and wing drying. There wasn't a single moment they shifted their eyesight from me, even the times when big waves were crashing by the rocks they were standing in. I took this opportunity to get these summery vibe shots. Behind the birds, you can see a huge cruiseship on the Mediterranean horizon.
