The Hover. (Circus cyaneus)

I finally managed to get the photo I have wanted for a long time. I have spent many hours through summer and very cold winters trying to get a decent close up of this regular visitor to the fields near my home. Today I managed four photos before being seen but I am very happy with the results. One for the forum.

Really, really nice shot. I have a picture of a seagull doing almost the same thing over a beach on Lake Michigan.

We have lots of Red-Tailed Hawks, American Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, and Ospreys, but I never seem to have my camera when I see them. I was mowing my lawn last summer and saw a Bald Eagle carrying a fish in his talons--the funny thing was the fish's head was pointed forward...like the Raptor was taking him for a little spin. He was only about 60 feet off the ground and flying slow. Its moments like those that make me wish I had my camera. This shot inspires me to spend more time out in the field. We live near several marshesmaybe Ill get lucky.

Thanks for the reply Jim never go without your camera. I Guarantee no camera the birds will land on your head if you know what I mean. But just in case keep some form of camera with you at all times. Yes even there. Lol. Wish you all the luck and great photos for the future.
