I couldn't leave that session without showing another picture of that beautiful kite.

He put on such a wonderful show for us and I rather liked this flight pose too.

I've asked in the ID forum re the white tail tip. I can't find this feature mentioned anywhere.

A wonderful well lit capture you have of this flying beauty Delia. Excellent framing, well done.

Was this part of his display flight? Would have loved to see that. We only saw one, quite distant and flying away :(

a marvelous photo of this attractive kite, Delia, wonderful colours and a great pose, top quality capture, many tfs!!!

I didn't see them in Australia, but had the chance to see them in Singapore. Concerning the white tail tip, "Raptors of the World", by J. Ferguson-Lees and David A. Christie reads "... contrasting bright chestnut on rest of body, wing-coverts, thighs and tail, though the latter has paler tip which varies from narrow to broad and white in east;". Your photo is taken in the eastern edge of its distribution range, so that seems to correspond.

Best wishes, take care, JJ

A photo as fine
as a Cadbury's egg
to a starving chocoholic, D.
You saved the best till last. Lovely.

I like the way the bird has its wings and tail open. Beautiful stop action catch Delia
