The puffball from the front

The puffball from the front (Strix aluco)

It was quite dark in the woods and I thought I saw a broken branch with its end looking very much like the eyes of an owl. Thought that was so odd and was planning on taking a shot just to post it as a weird co-incidence, when to my horror the the broken branch flew away!!! My first tawny owl in the wild and I missed it! Was desperately trying to catch a glimpse of the owl again and found this cute little puff ball looking back at me:) And, I also saw a redstart, though I could not take a photograph. Guess it wasn't a bad day after all.

Happy to Delia. But I am no owl expert. Have just seen one so far (if you dont count the ones that fly past when you are driving the car).
