The streak-throated woodpecker
A medium-sized, green woodpecker with streaked throat and scaly whitish underparts. Green above with yellowish rump, white supercilia and white and black moustache. Crown red in male, blackish in female. Tail dark and plain. Small, dark bill.

What a great picture you've taken tjt... it's lovely to have the tail spread so we can see the plumage detail there.

I've not heard of this woodpecker before and it appears to be about 2 years since the last image came in. Very well done for finding him and thanks so much for sharing this picture with us.

Thanj you delia todd and Joelle-Marcelle. I went to CKBS, Kolkata, India on 2nd oct,2015 (i.e. today) and I found this bird. I have taken photographs of lesser golden-backed woodpecker many times but I saw The streak-throated woodpecker today for the first time. Lovely Bird. the weather was gloomy otherwise colour would have looked muck better.
