i use to think that high noon sun is what i need to show the colors of this breeding male neck and back, but it turns that i had a better result on this heavily cloudy day. but the price is i had to use a high ISO.
I think it's the direction of the sunlight that makes or breaks some pics, especially when trying to catch irridescence. Also, too much is harder for the camera (at least in my unskilled hands) to adjust for than too little. Here I think you got it just right And something about damp weather does sometimes seem to intensify colors (as if this guy needed that ).
