One of the problems with photographing Goldcrests is that they like to frequent dark places - as mikibedi has experienced. They also spend a lot of time at the top of tall trees. It's much easier to catch them out in the open on the islands in the archipelago where they mostly stick to low bushes such as juniper and gorse. Then you just have to wait for them to pop up out of the undergrowth.
