Thinking Sharp-shinned - AND I am wrong. Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)

I'm pretty sure this is a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk. He has been hanging around the yard looking for doves and quail. On this day he decided to hang around for a few minutes.
So, placed in ID forum. He's a Cooper's, of course. I can't seem to get these two correct!

LOL! Love that irritated expression he's giving you! "Sharp-shinned? Ha! Forgotten my name again, have you?"
But what's the latest from AZ now? Have you not been out birding lately? I hope all is well :eek!:

I'm a bit late to this party, but very nice shot Lisa! A real beauty. You're lucky to have so many raptor candidates in the USA, we have fewer to choose from over here.

And thank you for your comment on my gull, much appreciated.

Neither of them among the birds in my no-need-to-check-the-field-guide vocabulary either. Excellent photo! (y)

Nice image of a juvenile Coopers Lisa. The streaked lower belly not blotchy and rounded tail (note shorter tail feathers sitting ‘inside’ the longer ones - these are the outer feathers, so when fanned out, gives the bird that rounded tail shape) - both of which separate it from a juvenile Sharpie 🙂
