Rejoice ...
... Tiger Royal
My friend ...

For the time
You have
... Under the Sun

And the future
We are
Destined to share

... As well

Long ...
... or short !

_______________

Latest census on
wild tigers in
India ... shows a
healthy 30 percent
rise in their
numbers ...

The current figure
is 2226 ...
Notably higher than
1446 in 2006 ...
and
1784 in 2010 ...

It is good ... and
a reason to
rejoice ...
But ...
India is a
large country ... over
populated as well ...
and most of these
tigers are fragmented
into small groups
in isolated protected
areas ... precluding
a wider gene-pool
mixing ... in turn
leading to lower
long-term survival
of the race ...

Meanwhile the blindly
development oriented
governments are going
soft on conservation ...
... allowing easier
access to these areas
...
even doing away with
mandatory impact-studies
... as happened in
Delhi ... where trees
planted after 1980
can now be felled for
certain projects ...
... without any
prior approval ...

_____________

So far ...
... So good
Hope ...!
It
Does not
Get worse ... !

Impressive!!! :eek!: I wonder if he's licking his chops because he thinks you look delicious, or because he'd just eaten. I hope the latter :eek!:

gorgeous alok&renu and i think alot of the world knows and hears the blight of these majestic creatures and i hope it may continue for along time to come.all the best margaret.

Great shot Alok, I almost overlooked this one. I was in Kanha National Park 3 years ago and got some reasonable shots there. Lets be optimistic and hope the numbers are on the up though its difficult to get an accurate count and seems like its more of a guesstimate.
