Time for a scratch (Elanus axillaris)

As usually happens at this time of the year, our shallow lake has dried out. The ducks have all relocated but a Black-shouldered Kite has returned to hunt mice amongst the sedges. I was hoping to get flight shots but whilst waiting I had to content myself with putting my replacement lens through its paces.
