Trapped (Procyon lotor)

This mother raccoon went into this unused tank to try and save her baby who had fallen in. She was unable to climb out because the top of the walls were about 4 feet above the water's surface. The opening of this pipe was her only resting place. Sadly, her baby drowned.

I saw her swimming in the late afternoon of June 4. No one knew she was there, though the night shift had heard lots of raccoons calling at about 2 AM on June 2.

After taking a few pics, I tried to help her.
