An excellent shot Broc, great work!

There's a male House Sparrow who hangs about my verandah a lot, who has exactly the same tiny patch of little white feathers beside one eye.

As far as I know there are only House Sparrows introduced to Australia and even though it has a chestnut head this one is a low ranking male House Sparrow. The boss cocky has a larger black bib. Thanks for posting this picture mate, it makes me think that the Australian House Sparrows are beginning to evolve a different coloration to the original English introduction ones.

Both types of Sparrow were introduced to SE Australia, the Eurasian Tree Sparrow in the 1860s and the House Sparrow at about the same time.
In Winter the male House Sparrow loses some of his breast colour.
Good shot Broc.
