Tricoloured Munia : closeup & call : Amazing Wildlife of India by Renu Tewari and Alok Tewari (Lonchura malacca)

Colorful little beauties ...
... birds of open countryside
and agrarian wilderness ...
... constantly persecuted
by bird trappers and
those engaged in
pet trade ...
There was a small
feeding party of these
little beauties ... call
of its members is heard
in the recording ... along
with calls of
Black Francolin ...

Marvelous footage of this handsome munia species appropriately named. Excellent work Renu & Alok! TFS!

Nice one Alok.... pretty birds these and you've a lovely video too.

Just checking... the sci name, apart from being wrongly spelt LOL leads to Chestnut-coloured Munia, not Tri-coloured Munia - Lonchura malacca. I'm presuming it is the latter though so the sci name needs changing.

Thanks for showing it to us my friend.

Hi Alok.... sorry, just come across this one again and needed to update the G and Video searches on the Opus page. I think there's been a bit of taxonomical movement(?) and really could do with some clarification as to which munia this one actually is now.

Can you help, or should I take it to the ID forum do you think?

Thank you Delia ... updated as per the new nomenclature ...
Best regards,
Alok
