I checked the creek mouth yesterday and was successful at seeing the continuing Tropical Kingbird found there last week. This species is a rare but regular visitor to the coast of California in the late Fall and winter but Spring records such as this are scarce and May records particularly so. The molting outer tail feathers suggest an SY (second calendar year) hatched in 2019. The pale crown, throat and chest are consistent with the expected northern race "T. m. satrapa" breeding from Arizona to northern South America.
