Trouble at Tern Island
Thanks very much for the comments on the Great Crested Grebe at Bough Beech on 7 April. On Friday 19 April my brother and I went again, and found that since last time, this year's Common Terns had arrived. There are floating artificial islands to provide nesting places for the terns, but this Black-headed Gull doesn't seem too pleased to see them.

Thank you for your kind comments on my pictures, and good birding!

No, that Gull sure doesn't seem to be welcoming to the Terns.

A great moment to capture John and you captured it beautifully guy.

The gull certainly does not seem pleased at all. I hope the terns can wear it down to where it finally gives on on the harassment. Exceptional aerial with an informative narrative John!

a superb action photo, John!! I wonder if the gull tries to chase them off because it considers them as competitors for food or because if wants to use itself the artificial island for breeding, Anyhow, it has given you this marvelous behavioural capture, top class, many tfs!!!

Even I was able to watch similar scenes in the past. These breeding rafts are very attractive places to breed or to steal eggs and young bird chicks. Excellent action capture.
