I think I mentioned before that these feeders made for a lot of fun watching the antics of the Magpies. Smart as they usually are, the Magpies just couldn't seem to figure out a way to easily feed from them. But the suet and peanut butter fillings were soooo soooo tempting, so they kept on trying. One method they tried was to fly up and grab a bite while airborne. It was hard to catch this on film as they were quick up and down each time and a lot of commotion while trying to grab a bite, but I was as persistent at practicing as the Magpies and this day I finally got a series of shots by focusing on the feeders and then shooting bursts each time a Magpie flew up. I'll share some more for a Saturday-Sunday fun series.
