Tufted Duck or Scaup

Date taken
2015
Equipment used
Canon EOS 550D - 100-400 IS lens
Assuming this is the same female as in your other post today, and the one from a few weeks ago when I said I thought it was a female Scaup ...... well all I'll say now is that it's not a pure-bred female Tufted duck! It is not a pure-bred female Scaup either I fear, as the body in this photo is too reddish-brown. It still has a lot of Scaup features (rounded head, black nail on the bill - although that is confused in this photo as it seems to have some mud on the bill tip as well - pale cheek patch). It seems likely it's a Tufted/Scaup hybrid but these Aythya ducks are not very choosy and all sorts of variants exist. ID forum for more expert opinion.
