Ugly or beautiful? (Corvus frugilegus)

I suppose it depends on the point of view! :-O We have hardly any Rook in my country and their strange face fascinate me, as well as the purple shine of their plumage. So I was dying to get a pic of one for my gallery during my holiday in UK... aim achieved in Wales!!! :bounce:

Hope the odd looking thing likes you in this portrait from a very close encounter!!! I do!!! o:)

Wonderful close-up of a very beautiful bird, well in my eye's anyway. Pleased for you amiga Marian that you capture such a super image.

Cheers ROD.

Excellent detailed image, mi amiga. I hope he has a good personality, as he will not make it on his looks. I have the Raven on my wish list - I don't suppose they look much different than crows, but they are only seen rarely here, so I'd like one in my gallery.

:bounce: Chuffed with your response to the portrait of this character (I can't tell it's ugly... lets say, peculiar looking, ;)), thanks a million for your kindness looking and giving your opinion, loved reading all those terrific comments!!! o:) I realized Corvids are not much posted, specially Crows and Rooks (Ravens and Jackdaws are luckier, ;)) so I thought a close-up would be OK to claim for their "appeal"! I'm very happy you liked it!

Tomorrow I'm leaving for a Chemical Meeting so I wouldn't be around for a few days, but I'll share more when I come back, I have plenty of stuff to upload of every kind! o:) Cheers everybody!!! B :)

Great shot,Marian.Corvids are one of my fav subjects ,such deep hues in their plumage, and yes, lots of character.this is a great shot, shows him warts and all!!!

Who are we to tell if a Rook is beautiful or ugly! This picture shows the wisdom of the Rook, much more important than looks. Great character,Marian. :t:

You have captured the detail and colours of this Rook perfectly Marian. An excellent portrait shot.
