Unusual ... (Phoeniconaias minor)

Unusual ...

First time ever we
observed Flamingos
feeding in this unusual
style ... by up-ending
and pedaling in
deeper water collection ...

... during our
just concluded trip to
Mumbai ... Maharashtra
and Coastal Gujrat ...

We saw some of them
even swimming like
swans ...

We had an opportunity
to record this unusual
way of feeding in a
small video-clip ... that
we are sharing here ...
Link :

It will be nice to
know if others too, have
had such observation
on their feeding behavior ...

This image was captured
in very bright light ...
as seen by pin-point
sized pupils ...

A great picture showing this unusual behaviour. Very well captured and recorded Alok.

Of course I've not seen it, as I've never seen any flamingo sadly!!! And have only once seen a Grey Heron in deep water who appeared to be swimming.

Very well done my friend, and thanks so much for the video too.
What an interesting behavioural study, Alok. Lovely to get the two together, too.
Well, I've never seen Flamingos at all, so I can't say, but it's certainly not how nature programs on tv have shown them. Wonderful shot and fascinating video |=)|
