Upriver
This is an overall view of Goose Park looking upstream from my picnic area seat.

That's another Common Gull flying across.

I did spend some time trying to master flight pictures while waiting for Ann to return.

Why it's called Goose Park I've no idea.... never saw one LOL

I'm with John on this. A beautiful image of a place I would like to park my arse there all day. A lovely image D.

Looks a beautiful place Delia, wish I lived in one of those houses. Yes, that looks pretty much like a Common Gull, though species ID is easier when you already know what it is ;) You obviously had a great time in Norway, lucky you.

I think it's called Goose Park because there used to be a restaurant there called The Goose. They had a gourmet place downstairs and a lower-cost bistro upstairs. The upstairs bistro was called Andetasjen - a pun meaning "The Duck Floor" but also hinting at a very fancy restaurant in Oslo called Andenetasjen, meaning "The Second Floor". I ate at Andetasjen a couple of times - office parties and such. Anyhoooo ... that building is no longer a restaurant, but the name has stuck. Other info about your pic: The building with the two spires is the administration building of the university, built in (I think) 1911. The spires are meant to be in "conversation" with those of the cathedral, just out of view here to the right of your photo - i.e. a conversation between religion and science, grounded in local history since the first public college in Norway was the cathedral seminary, established in the year 1152. Also the university in Trondheim sort of traces its history back to a science museum started by one of the bishops at the cathedral. So the "conversation" between the two institutions was meant to be a respectful one. Oh, and this shot was taken at low tide. This is near the mouth of the river. When the tide is in, that little island and most of the beach pretty much disappear.
