Varied
My other lifer this trip was Varied Thrush. My B and SIL had moved house after some tree clearance (following storm damage and bark beetle attacks) had left them feeling over-exposed. Their new place, though only a 5-minute walk up the same road, has a somewhat different biotope. They're now in the redwood forest zone of Sea Ranch, so instead of Western Bluebirds, Northern Flickers, and Purple Martins, they now have Hermit Thrush and Varied Thrush hanging around the house (and a Bobcat that strolled through the day after I left). I got some lovely shots right there by their driveway, but this shot from further up the hill was sharper. This female thrush took over the branch as soon as the Red-shouldered Hawk I'd been photographing took off from it.

Extraordinary photograph, and an interesting narration, I applaud this Doc, congratulations!

My one and only I mistook for a Robin until it was too late.
