Vermilion Cardinal immature
I assume this moth-eaten bird is a young male moulting into the adult plumage. It was too close to contain the entire bird within the frame!

Guajira, in NE Colombia, seems to be the accessible place for seeing this species! It is very easy to combine with a visit to the area around Minca/El Dorado Lodge, and I encourage you to go!
