Violet Sabrewing (Campylopterus hemileucurus)

One of the largest hummers in South America. The female is less colourful, but still is beautiful ;)
The colours of the male are almost neon, so i decided to experiment and try painting it on black paper.
I give this one to Marian..'El amante de las joyas' (the lover of the jewels) who fell in love with hummers in Costa Rica, hope you like it Marian.
Enjoy everyone :t:

This one is absolutely marvelous,Sam...your best to date in my opinion :t::t::t::t:
I love the composition,the colours and above all his bright eye and the rendering of the gloss on the plumage. And the almost black background is perfect here.
Really a stunning work!!!

Thanks you so much Targy, Terry, Bernard, Easty and Deanne for your kind comment's. Im glad the black worked for you..maybe more in the future? ;)
Many thanks every one :t::t::t:

Great job of the hummer I refer to as the violent sabrewing due to it's aggressive defence of the feeder. Off to Costa Rica next week and will try to bring you back a good shot!
