Visiting Hoopoe, in Northern Ireland (Upupa epops)

I was one of about 30 lucky people to see the hoopoe which arrived in Comber, last week.

It stayed for about 4 days before heading off for summer in Southern Europe. He caused quite a stir as they are so rarely blown this far off course, making a few local papers.

Aren't they wonderful Ali!!! That's a terrific picture you've taken of this Hoopoe, especially getting him with his crest up!!

Such characters - it's so long since I've seen one sadly.
