Wait, wait ... what was that??? (Phalocrocorax varius)

On one of those winding, one-way, gravel stretches where the traffic "convoy" was bumper to bumper so I really had to keep my eyes on the road and the traffic even if we were creeping along at just 25kph, I spotted something on the shore out of the corner of my eye. This was where I found a pullout right by the next switching point and managed to walk back along the new foot-and-bike path just a short stretch. It had almost looked like a Penguin :D But no, it was a Pied Shag ;) Still, a gorgeous bird, quite close, and a lifer. That colorful face and those deep blue eyes are really something :eek!:
