Looks to be one Alex with that pink bill tipped with yellow. A male by the look of it the female has brown speckles or striations on the crown. Must have been great to see . Tfs

This is a lovely bird! And a great shot of him. He is also magnificent to see soaring at sea!

Yes a Wandering albatross. The only confusion species (Royal) shows a black edge to the upper mandible that would be visible here, as well the pink bill that Ken says.
Kaikoura by any chance ...?
