Western Kingbird and Scissor-tailed Flycatcher Juveniles
Western Kingbird (Tyrannus verticalis) Scissor-tailed Flycatcher(Tyrannus forficatus) youngsters testing their bravado. Their parents nested about 30 m (ca. 100 ft) apart in separate trees. They fledged at about the same time. These two would sit within a foot of each other in a tree in-between their nest trees and suddenly fly out and start fighting. Then they would fly to a branch and sit next to each other again.
Habitat
Post Oak Savannah vegetation area. West of the retention pond and Carters Creek at 84 m (276 ft) elevation.
