Can you pick out the larger, darker Dunlin(s) among the many Western Sandpipers packed together at a high tide roost? Extra credit: Pick out the Sanderling(s).
Location
Coyote Point, San Mateo, California, USA.
Date taken
11 February 2021
Scientific name
Calidris mauri, Calidris alpina, Calidris alba
The Dunlin look huge compared to the peeps! Very nice shot, lovely to see so many birds.

Yep, I’ve got him! A fabulous capture of this roosting group, Joseph.

Wow no social distancing here! The Dunlin are easy to pick out with their longer bills - I can see at least two Sanderling (with whitish heads)
