Westland Petrel (Procellaria westlandica)

It's post and run this morning. I have a ferry to catch. Just wanna post a few from my first ever pelagic. Went out from Kaikoura yesterday and saw loads of albatross, petrels, terns ... Lovely day for it too :D

Never done a pelagic before, so these are obviously all lifers. This particular one, I was the only passenger on board to see. Couldn't call the ID, and the others were so focused on the albatross all around us that I couldn't even get their attention. Luckily, I got two really good shots for ID later |=)|

I'd not really heard of this one before Ann, we've had very few pictures of them come into the Gallery.

We don't have a flight picture in The Opus, so I'll upload this one there too.... on a roll tonight lass LOL.

What a cracker of a picture and a wonderful pelagic trip you had... and you didn't waste the opportunity either, did you.

Well done Ann! I've done a few pelagics and I know how difficult it is to keep the camera steady!!
