Wheel Bug (Arilus gallus: Reduvidae) 3.4-3.8 cm (1.3-1.5 in) long. A type of assassin bug.
Habitat
Urban setting. Fence row dominated by Peppervine (Ampelopsis arborea: Vitaceae). Floodplain of Carter Creek at ca. 88 m (289 ft) elevation.
Location
Austins Colony Park, Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, USA.

It certainly looks like an assassin. I've never heard of this bug and will have to do some googling. A beautiful capture Stanley!
