The mate watched it fly 180 degrees the other direction to about 1/4 mile distance. Then took off downwind to catch up with her.

I think most humans have flying dreams as kids. In mine, I remember it was always a lot of effort to get airborne. Perhaps I was a swan in a previous life ;)
