Whip-poor-will (Antrostomus vociferus)

I know, I haven't been around much - been busy, busy busy!

Wanted to share this though...stayed out after dark to hear and hopefully see Whip-poor-wills recently. Heard loads and this one let us approach to about 6 feet!

This was shot without flash and only using a car's headlamps for light...I grabbed a dozen frames and we left it alone.

Great catch and work, Mark. You managed to get a brilliant shot in the dark.

Very nice work, so glad to finally see one :t::t::t:

I've only heard them in the night; used to land on my parents back porch

and sing, oh did it sing, so loud we couldn't get to sleep :'D

Well done. Good adjustment on the white balance; this could have turned out a bit orange, otherwise. Nice image. :t: :t: :t:
