Whistling Green Pigeon (Treron formosae)

Just took this one yesterday morning. While driving along a fairly busy road, quite to my surprise and delight, there perched on the wire was this handsome bird. At first glance I thought "just another Turtle Dove" as those are very common here, but then it registered, "that wasn't brown, it was Green"! I made a quick U-turn and pulled off the road and started taking pictures as traffic passed by. I'm sure the Japanese drivers must have thought I was a bit bonkers!

A superb capture, Dan  ! Very well caught ! I've never been able to get a decent shot of one. As the scientific name indicates we get them on "Ilha Formosa" but they are confined to just the southern tip and then the eastern islands of Lu-dao (Green Island) and Lanyu (Orchid Island).
