White Cockatoo
A very distant record shot. Note distinctive all white crest. Sometimes called Umbrella Cockatoo or White-crested Cockatoo, formerly lumped with Salmon-crested Cockatoo. This Indonesian endemic is classified as "Endangered" by IUCN because of continued unsustainable trapping for the cage-bird trade. It is an eBird "sensitive" species so exact locations are hidden from the public. It has been introduced in Taiwan and Hawaii and it has been suggested that specimens from Obi are escapes. However I have not seen evidence for that and eBird does not flag them as such.

Gosh!! You handled the exposure pretty well with that contrast Joe. A wonderful picture you've got of this cockatoo lad.

Happy New Year to you.
