White-faced Ibis
Taken at a desert wildlife sanctuary in central Nevada, This illustrates the benefit of having a long lens. This bird was at least a quarter mile away and I had no opportunity to get closer.

Pahanagat National Wildlife Refuge is a string of three small, natural lakes in the Great Basin area of Nevada. Sometimes it's pretty good for finding and photogaphing birds, other times not so much.
Habitat
High desert lake
Location
Pahanagat NWR, Central Nevada, USA
Date taken
8-19-2009
Scientific name
Plegadis chihi
Equipment used
Canon T1i, Tamron 200-500 lens
This is wonderful, especially with the distance. You've captured the iridescent colors just right. Great job.
