White-tailed Hawk (Buteo albicaudatus hypospodius) Only subspecies hypospodius is mapped for South Texas. Photographed on the southern end of Mustang Island, San Patricio County, Texas, USA. Corpus Christi Bay is on its western shore and the Gulf of Mexico is on its eastern shore. Open barrier island in the Gulf Prairies and Marshes Vegetational Area at ca. 2 m (6.6 ft) elevation.
