White ... takes ... White (Halcyon smyrnensis, Sylvia curruca)

A serendipitous shot ...

White-throated
Vs ...
Whitethroat

We have often captured

White-throated Kingfisher
taking a variety
of food ...
... but first record
ot it capturing ...
... stunning and
swallowing a

Lesser Whitethroat

... who is a lovely
little winter visitor
... many of them
had already left ...
and ... so ... this one
would have done, too ...

But ... destiny had
else in store for him ...

As ... this little crooner
was singing in a bush
... and the hunter
was lurking on the
fringes of wilderness ...
yet he was determined
and dived into the
bush ... coming out
with the prey ... firmly
clasped in its bill ...
battered it on the
boundary wall of a
farm house ... and
proceeded to
finish it ...

A video of the event
will follow soon ...
Watch out ...with
another image of the
duo ...

OMG Alok!!! That's the first time I've been aware of kingfishers taking birds!!! Though I see I did add it to the The Opus article a few years ago LOL.

You've recorded this incident beautifully my friend. Very well done lad.
