White throated Dipper (Cinclus cinclus)

Dipper on the river, it was picking moss of the rocks, then dipping the ,moss in water and shaking it dry before flying off, it kept doing this over and over again.

I guess it wants to make sure the moss was just perfect for its nest for its pending kiddos. Great action and behavioral picture Chris with a terrific narrative. TFS!

A tremendous picture of this favourite of mine Chris. They must be nesting down your way now I guess; not quite sure why they'd want the moss damp though, unless it's something to do with humidity.

Thanks Delia, yes they have started to build nests now, very busy up and down the river. Not sure about wetting the moss, maybe its easier to mould into a shape?? (y)
