whitethroat
A rush of spring hormones drove it out of the brambles.

Somehow I can't retain the sharpness of the original when downscaling. Tips please!

Ok, I got a better result now, as follows :
1) crop
2) downscale to 1600 x 1200, using cubic filtering
3) apply a bit of unsharp mask
4) downscale to 800 x 600, using cubic filtering
5) apply a little bit of unsharp mask

This seems to work better than a straight rescale to 800 x 600.
If you have a better method, please share it.
