I believe this fungus is Witches' butter though there are similar species.

What an interesting fungus and a great name for it, Ken.
 
A bit late in the day I discovered that this is NOT witches' butter (properly called 'black witches' butter') but 'yellow brain'. Black witches' butter is actually black. Don't trust everything you 'learn' on the internet!
